1. How are you enjoying your work?
Having relevancy of programme modules that support my current job scope. Ultimately about having influence on the design process before new product launches.
2. How has your SIT journey influenced your current role or career path?
SIT has provided me with the platform and opportunities to excel in my field of study.
My visit to the University of Glasgow in Scotland substantially grew my interest in Engineering as the professors there were evidently passionate about their craft.
I managed to find my true calling to Engineering when I was in Scotland, but this would not have been possible if not for the unwavering support from both SIT and Mendaki.
3. Have you been in contact with the SIT community recently? E.g. Intern students? Projects? Alumni activities?
Yes I have had interactions with a couple of interns from SIT, some of which have gone on to graduate and return as a full-timer. (i.e. Huang Junkai and Aaron Tan)
I have also been involved in the SIT-JDF Mentorship Programme which presents me the opportunity to contribute back to my alma mater; With the privilege of mentoring junior engineers that are in the midst of paving their career ahead. JDF engineers was involved in one of their modules, Mechanical Design, where teams were tasked to get creative with problems of a face mask.
On top of that, I returned as an Alumni to participate in the Inter-Cluster Games 2020 for Futsal.
4. Any advice or pointers for SIT ENG students to have a good start in their career?
One advice would be to identify your purpose as an engineer, and the industry you want to be involved in; How do you want to influence the world to change (for the better)?
