What motivated you to join the programme?
Initially when I matriculated into SIT, I felt that the whole idea of becoming a university student was rather daunting to me. When I think back to that point in my life, I am very grateful to have partaken in SIT’s induction programme called HELIX which was where I met my facilitator who is also a SAm. He introduced me to his enriching experiences in the SAm programme and how he enjoyed himself.
It was through his sharing that I became very hooked on signing up for the programme as I was eagerly awaiting the various opportunities that I would get to grow as an individual and to provide such opportunities to the ever-growing SIT community. I want to contribute back to SIT and be a pillar of support for my fellow SITizens which I felt was possible through being a SAm.
What was your most memorable moment as a SITizen Ambassador?
I will never forget the moment when I was asked to be the student speaker for the SITizen Ambassadors Investiture 2022. It was an absolute honour to share my experiences about coming to SIT, becoming a SITizen Ambassador, and fulfilling my aspirations to work with the senior management, faculty, staff, and fellow SITizen ambassadors to continue bringing SIT to greater heights. I was also given the opportunity to take part in an appreciation video for the former SIT Chairman, which I am thankful for.
It was a truly heart-warming video message, and I was glad to be part of it. Even though it was a very new experience for me, it was memorable, enriching, and enjoyable. I was able to put the communication and public speaking skills I learnt through the core training into good use during the networking session with fellow SITizen ambassadors and SITizens.
It also helped me during the filming when I had to speak confidently into the camera. I am very grateful to have had these opportunities to expand my skills, and I look forward to other memorable moments I am sure to experience as a SITizen Ambassador.
What does being a SITizen Ambassador mean to you even beyond your time in SIT as a student?
I believe that my journey as a SITizen ambassador does not end after I have completed my time as a student in SIT. Being SITizen Ambassadors means that we are advocates of SIT who will continue to uphold the good name of SIT in our respective careers throughout our lives. I would also love to give back to SIT by taking part in alumni events and SITizen Ambassador events after graduating.
More importantly, with SIT’s upcoming move to the new Punggol campus, it is vital for SITizen Ambassadors to contribute to the shaping and development of SIT in its initial years at the new campus. This is something I look forward to.
