Biography

Shawn has been a registered nurse and registered mental health nurse for over 29 years, working in various settings and roles. With a PhD in Nursing and multiple certificates in health simulation and education, Shawn is passionate about exploring different pedagogy to advance nursing students' and professionals' knowledge and skills, especially in mental health care. His research ranged from exploring issues related to community engagement, reintegration, the well-being of people experiencing mental health conditions, and issues related to internationally educated nurses. Shawn was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2023 for his contributions to nursing. In 2024, he was the first Singaporean nurse awarded the Dame Yvonne Moores Global Leadership Scholarship, Florence Nightingale Foundation, United Kingdom.
