What You Will Learn

Day 1

  • Understand how personality influences confidence in the workplace
  • Recognise and address public speaking challenges
  • Identify personal strengths and motivations for public speaking
  • Acquire and apply an understanding of the audience in content preparation
  • Develop a content strategy around 5W1H approach (who, what, when, where, why, how)
  • Build and script an effective presentation
  • Apply learnt techniques through group and individual activities
  • Analyse and critique individual and group performances
  • Fine-tune skills according to peer and instructor feedback

Day 2

  • Assess the components of delivering a successful pitch and “selling” a randomly assigned product
  • Construct a pitch based on 5W1H content strategy, Eagle’s View vs. Earthworm’s View, data and evidence, and the finishing note
  • Define and apply principles of persuasive simplicity
  • Practise and evaluate various methods of connecting with the audience
  • Execute a live pitch to convince the audience to buy into an idea or product
  • Fine-tune individual and group performance based on instructor and peer feedback

A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who

  • Attend at least 75% of the course;
  • Undertake and pass non-credit bearing assessment during the course

Participants who meet the attendance requirement but do not pass the assessment will receive a Certificate of Participation.
