Course Overview
This module is pending funding approval from SkillsFuture Singapore
Sustainability has increasing mandates across all industries and professions and at the national level. Starting in April 2025, all listed companies on the Singapore Exchange will have to make climate disclosures, and this will also apply to large non-listed companies. As a result, there will be a ripple effect across associated companies, professions, and supply chains.
This module introduces the fundamental concepts, methodologies, and frameworks of carbon accounting, with a focus on its application to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics. It aims to equip learners with the skills to quantify and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with global standards such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
By integrating local and global perspectives, the module covers carbon accounting in industries like energy, transportation, and healthcare while critically examining its role in ESG reporting.
This module is part of the Graduate Certificate in Sustainability (GCert in Sust PP) and supports the Engineering Chartership in Sustainability by the Institution of Engineers Singapore. SIT, one of two IHLs partnering with the IES Academy, offers the full suite of modules for those pursuing the chartership.
