About Course

This course is designed to introduce the OH&S management system to the social service sector.

It covers the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles and the sub-element of the management system and aims to equip the participant with the appropriate knowledge to appreciate the need to develop and maintain an OH&S management system. Individuals will learn the concept of Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, element of OH&S Management system, and the establishment, maintenance, and continual improvement of OH&S Management system.

This course will benefit individuals at the supervisory level, who are working in the social service agencies and settings.

The course is a collaboration with Social Service Institute. It is designed specifically in accordance with the Skills Framework for Social Service and developed specifically for the social service sector.

  • English proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) level 5 and above

  • Describe the 5-steps Risk Management Process
  • Develop an activity-based risk assessment
  • Apply and determine the appropriate control measure using the hierarchy of control measures

Incident Investigation and Analysis

  • Develop an incident investigation plan
  • Apply the appropriate analysis tool during incident analysis
  • Determine the appropriate Corrective Action and Preventive Actions (CAPAs)
  • Develop Emergency Response Plan

Measuring and Monitoring OH&S Performance

  • Determine the reactive and proactive measuring and monitoring parameters

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of the course
  • Undertake and pass non-credit bearing assessment during the course

Participants who meet the attendance requirement but do not pass the assessment will receive a Certificate of Participation.
