Course Overview
The rapid digitalisation of services, enabled by the proliferation of electronic devices with high-speed signals and radio transmission, is fueled primarily by advanced test and measurement systems. Emerging technologies such as 5G and mmWave radars pose new testing requirements and instrumentation.
Decoding Signals is about the principles and know-how behind high-frequency measurements and test instrumentation systems. This intermediate-level course, offered jointly by SIT and Rohde & Schwarz, provides a mix of both foundational and application-specific topics with hands-on learning and demonstration activities.
The two-day course explores the underlying concepts behind the measurement of high-frequency signals, time and frequency domain instrumentation setups, transmission line effects, network analysis, and linear and non-linear measurements. Additionally, it contextualises measurements to application areas such as wireless transceiver testing, high-speed digital signals, OTA chamber measurements, and EMI/EMC applications.
As a learner you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles governing the measurement of wireless and RF signals, coupled with practical know-how associated with the instrumentation. The course emphasises problem-solving strategies through experiential learning of different measurement techniques used in the design, development and testing of various high-frequency systems.
