Course Overview
CPD points (SSR) - Pending approval
This workshop is designed to provide the advanced theoretical knowledge and skills to support and complement the practical training required to produce a competent sonographer in paediatric and neonatal ultrasound.
It also aims to develop an understanding of the role of ultrasound in response to clinical requests and its influence on patient management. The workshop further aims to enable the exploration of the role of ultrasound in comparison to other imaging techniques and investigative procedures that may be required to assist the diagnostic process.
Hybrid instruction mode will be employed which combines didactic classroom teaching sessions with facilitated case-based learning, online learning activities and practical demonstration. You will be guided in the competent production, interpretation and assessment of the paediatric and neonatal ultrasound images.
You will develop and enhance your theoretical knowledge and advanced image interpretation as well as specialist scanning skills in sonography of the paediatric and neonatal population. Topics will include principles in neonatal and paediatric ultrasound scans, common indications, protocol and scanning technique of the infant/paediatric brain, neck, hip, spine, abdomen, kidney and bowel.
Who Should Attend
- Radiographers practising ultrasound
- Healthcare professionals involved in ultrasound work
Prerequisites
- Participants are required to have a healthcare-related qualification. Prior clinical experience and knowledge of the general operation of ultrasound machines may be given preferential consideration
What You Will Learn
- Discuss the common indications for neonatal and paediatrics imaging requests
- Understand the basic principles and technical requirements of neonatal and paediatric ultrasound imaging
- Understand the criteria for diagnostic quality images
