This module looks at the transdisciplinary and integrative approach of Systems Engineering to enable the successful definition, realisation, deployment, use, and retirement of engineered systems.

Systems principles and concepts as well as Systems Engineering processes are illustrated through the co-development of an engineered system. The application of systems engineering on railway systems will be covered in this module. This module is 1 of the 4 core modules under the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology.

Note: In 2024, this module will be renamed from SRT6002 to MEC6012. There is no change in the stackability towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology.

  • Engineering professionals who have recently embarked on or are planning to start a career in the public transport industry, with specialisations in urban railway systems and technology
  • Participants who wish to obtain the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of the module; and
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment during the course

A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of the module; and
  • Undertake and pass credit bearing assessment during the course
