Course Overview
13 PDUs (PEB)
16 SDUs (SISO)
This module has an updated learning pathway that can now be stacked towards a Graduate Certificate in Process Safety Operations.
This course is designed to provide an overview of pressure relief system design and requirements.
Pressure vessels and other equipment require relief devices to provide overpressure protection to prevent conditions that may cause serious injuries to personnel, costly mechanical damage and environmental releases.
The course provides specific detailed guidelines for evaluating a relief system, including determining applicability of overpressure scenarios, required relief rates, and relief device capacity. The key principles from this course provide practical knowledge of the relief system requirements of process safety management.
This course was previously titled "Relief Systems - Types, Characteristics, and Design Considerations"
Who Should Attend
- Managers, engineers, operators, safety advisors and risk management practitioners
What You Will Learn
- How to select and size appropriate relief devices
- How to test, inspect and repair relief devices, and establish an inspection timetable
