Overview
Effective from AY2025/26 Trimester 2 (January 2026), the Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering will be transiting to the Graduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering*.
For existing learners, if you wish to receive the award of the existing Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering, you must complete all remaining modules by end of AY2025/26 Trimester 1 (December 2025).
This decision comes as part of our ongoing efforts to streamline our curriculum and provide the most relevant and impactful learning experiences to our students. As a rapidly developing urbanised nation, Singapore's fast-paced and ever-changing urban landscape demands a skilled and adaptable workforce for the built environment.
The built environment sector plays a critical role in shaping Singapore's physical environment and infrastructure, from the construction of new buildings and infrastructure, to the maintenance and upgrading of existing ones.
The SIT Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering (PGCert BSE) is designed to address industry needs to reskill, deep skill and upskill industry professionals in building services engineering.
The modules can be taken individually or stack towards a PGCert BSE, and are each worth 6 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits.
Modules Available
Modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering. They can also be taken individually.
Candidates will be awarded an PGCert BSE if they pass 4 modules totalling 24 credits with a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of ≥ 2.5. The PGCert BSE is also stackable to SIT’s Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
SIT’s Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a merger and rename of the Master of Engineering Technology in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land) programme and Master of Engineering Technology in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) programme, both of which have been granted full accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Board.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- At least one year of relevant experience in the built environment or engineering industry

The above modules are subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore.
Effective Jan 2023, these modules have been renamed from SIE60XX to MEC60XX. There is no change in their stackability towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering.
Certificate and Assessment
A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
- Attend at least 75% of the module; and
- Undertake non-credit bearing assessment during the course
A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:
- Attend at least 75% of the module; and
- Undertake and pass credit bearing assessment during the course
