This module has an updated learning pathway that can now be stacked towards various Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas under the Health and Social Sciences domain. These Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas are also stackable towards SIT’s Master of Health Sciences.

This module explores the application of research evidence in clinical practice. To do so, knowledge and competencies in research design, statistical interpretation, and critical appraisal will be developed.

Learners will be engaged in the full process of evidence-based practice through identifying a clinical area of interest, critically appraising relevant literature, identifying gaps in evidence, the barriers and facilitators, and the evaluation of evidence-based practice approach.

They will have the opportunity to reflect deeply on your personal and societal values, professionalism, and how both values and professionalism shape their ethical behaviours in clinical practice. Learners will also have the opportunity to explore the tension between organisational and societal demands. It is hoped that this module will provide clarity on ethical dilemmas for health professionals in their everyday interactions with patients and clients.

The module uses blended learning pedagogy and flexible scheduling for adult learners. The learning activities and assessment strategies reflect workplace demands, upskill module participants' knowledge and practice, and enhance service delivery.
