Reliable microbial testing methods play a fundamental role in safeguarding food and water safety, environmental monitoring and ensuring quality control in pharmaceuticals.

This course aims to equip professionals across diverse sectors with updated knowledge and hands-on learning opportunities involving microbiological, mass spectrometric and genomic methods for microbial testing.

Over three days, you will gain practical lab-based training in fundamental microbiological testing techniques that comply with both international and local testing benchmarks. The course covers conventional microbiological methods such as culturing, gram-staining and microscopy. Additionally, it includes molecular techniques such as PCR, which is routinely used to maintain rigorous safety standards in various industries.

Beyond foundational techniques, the course introduces you to advanced genomic and bioanalytical methodologies essential for meeting stringent standards mandated by professional bodies. You will have hands-on opportunities to learn and experience microbial enumeration and classification using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry (MS) and Oxford Nanopore Sequencing.
