Development of a flipped classroom model for laboratory practicals in the Pharmaceutical Engineering programme

Grant Name
SIT Advancement for Learning and Teaching (SALT)

Abstract

Flipped classrooms have recently emerged as an attractive instructional strategy in which traditional lectures occur outside the classroom, and students’ application of the content takes place within the classroom. The objective of the project is to design and develop learning, teaching and assessment strategies relevant to the flipped classroom model for the laboratory components in the Pharmaceutical Engineering curriculum by harnessing SIT's existing technology-enabled learning platform.

In this project, the instructor will create online videos and pre-laboratory instructions for Years 1 and 2 laboratory practical classes. Students will then be tasked to view the online materials before engaging in practical sessions.
