Self and peer assessment resource kit

Grant Name
SIT Advancement for Learning and Teaching (SALT)

Abstract

SPARKPLUS is a web-based self and peer assessment resource kit. This project will use the kit to assist instructors to develop tasks that encourage students to take more responsibility for their own learning, learn from their mistakes, explore their learning through peer conversations, and develop their professional attributes such as judgment, reflection and critical evaluation.

It allows students to confidentially rate their own and their peers' contributions to a team task or an individual's submission. The instructors can use the ratings to calculate adjustments to an individual's marks. The SPARK software automates the processes of collecting student assessments and completing the calculations. This is a major benefit in addition to the learning experience.
