Abstract

Having identified a group of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)’s freshmen at risk of poor performance based on a history of subpar performance, poor wellbeing, and ineffective learning approaches, we investigate using gamified microlearning platform as an early intervention for these ‘at-risk’ students. We build on the Self-Efficacy theory and propose that equipping students with management skills of wellbeing and effective learning approaches would enhance performance and enable a positive cycle where good performance reinforces itself through increased self-efficacy.

This project builds on the extensive work by the UniHow project at the University of Helsinki that provides insights to students’ learning, and extends it by adding gamification and micro-learning features to help students develop areas based on their reported profile.
