Abstract

Project-based learning as a pedagogical approach in the higher education setting is not new. However, it is mainly employed in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. The literature suggests that this learning approach, when applied in the university classrooms, is associated with enhanced learning, positive attitudes towards the subject content (e.g. STEM), positive subject evaluations, and development of creativity and innovation.

In the current proposal, it is speculated that project-based learning can be translated to subject areas on healthcare systems and global health, which are non-STEM subjects. Three such academic modules will be selected for the proposed study. Students in these modules include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, radiography and radiation therapy.
