Enhancing Engagement and Learning in Physics Labs through Gamification: A Pilot Study

Abstract

The aim of this project is to transform traditional Physics lab teaching practices at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) by introducing gamified elements, with a focus on the subject of motion dynamics. Through the integration of competitive and collaborative activities and incentives, the project seeks to increase student engagement, deepen understanding, and improve learning outcomes.

The gamification approach will involve interactive activities, such as trivia-style quizzes linked to lab work, and the use of multimedia, including introductory videos for each lab session designed to set the stage for the 'game'.
