Falls are common in older adults and can lead to serious consequences. Falls can be reduced by identifying risk factors for falls early and intervening to improve postural balance.
It can also be tackled by addressing polypharmacy, poor vision, home environment hazards and more. In this workshop international and local experts will discuss the epidemiology of falls, efficacy of community-based falls intervention programmes and other issues such as frailty, balance and mobility assessment, increasing adherence to interventions.
Practical elements will include falls assessment, home environment assessments, lifestyle interventions, assessing and treating vestibular dysfunction in older adults.
