Dr An Hui
Assistant Professor An Hui believes that effective teaching is a result of both thorough curriculum preparation and student centered active learning. He is keen on developing students’ critical thinking skills before gaining mastery in the desired competency. To ensure that his students could be both practice-oriented and industry ready, his course work development has been dedicated to prepare and train his students to specialize according to the needs of the industry.

Dr Cheow Wean Sin
Associate Professor Cheow Wean Sin strives for the best learning experience for her class. She believes in the need to build rapport with her students so as to better engage and motivate them. In order to do so, Wean Sin uses a variety of strategies, such as by relating class content to daily life experiences and incorporating fun elements into all her lessons. Wean Sin is empathic and supportive towards her students and treats each of them as individuals worthy of her best efforts.

Ms Chu Mui Kim
Ms Chu Mui Kim strives to be a role model, motivator, mentor and adviser to her students. She employs a “my door is always open” policy with her students and encourages them to reach out to her whenever in need. Mui Kim pays extra attention to students who might need more help and challenges those who can do more to stretch themselves. She strives to make her lessons clear, organised and interesting, and uses her corporate experience to help students see the connection between theory and the real world of auditing. She is a firm believer in giving timely and ongoing feedback to students to highlight gaps in learning, something that her students appreciate immensely.

Mr Dan Chia
Mr Dan Chia constantly shows strong commitment to students’ development and well-being. He strives to design his modules to incorporate more exceptional learning experience to instigate higher levels of learning. These activities, in the form of mini projects, hackathons and industry-relevant lab session, aim to keep the students engaged but also equip them with transferrable skillsets to be industry ready after graduation. Armed with extensive industry experience, Dan goes the extra miles and provide industry consultations to students to help them identify career goals and inspirations and has helped organised technical and recruitment talks for students. He also tries to foster strong bonding within the cohort and the alumni using various social media platforms.

Dr Desmond Chong
As an educator, Associate Professor Desmond Chong values the opportunity given to him to teach and nurture the next generation. Desmond’s teaching philosophy centers around “Learn from the others, Share with the rest’ and does not hesitate to share new knowledge with his students. To strengthen applied learning, Desmond’s teaching is often through a practical and design-based engineering curriculum that focuses on experiential learning and user-centric approach – through this, students are able to comprehend the engineering concepts easier and better appreciate its field applications.

Dr Karin Avnit
Associate Professor Karin Avnit designs her lessons to encourage active learning, scaffolding, feedback and reflection. She shuns away from the traditional lecture tutorial structure and has embraced the Team-Based Learning pedagogy for most of her modules. While making herself available for consultation, Karin views herself as a facilitator to empower students to take responsibility for their own learning. Karin has also been the champion pioneer in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) at SIT. She has piloted several different tools that have been proven to not only be effective in teaching the students but also assist faculty in their teaching. Karin actively shares and encourages her peers in adopting TEL tools to enhance the quality of teaching and learning at SIT.

Dr Kyrin Liong
Assistant Professor Kyrin Liong centres her teaching on three basic principles. To facilitate inductive learning, creating an active learning environment and to encourage growth mindsets in her students. While her primary approach to teaching is to enable students with the skills to appreciate and assimilate current knowledge and combine them with new ideas to innovate, the true core of her teaching philosophy rests on building a strong student-teacher relationship. Kyrin has also been innovative in her teaching approaches, using new technologies such as holograms in mixed reality to not only excite her students in their learning, but more importantly, to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

Dr Lim Bee Gim
Associate Professor Lim Bee Gim is passionate and dedicated about sharing her industrial experience and knowledge with her students. She strives for all her students to independently find solutions to problems they encounter and is committed to guiding her students towards this goal. Bee Gim also nurtures her students by providing a constant source of encouragement and support both inside and outside the classroom.

Dr May Lim
May is an Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology and the Director of Centre for Learning Environment and Assessment Development (CoLEAD) that looks after the faculty development programmes in learning and teaching at the university level.
May plays a key role in shaping and sharing education policies such as Teaching & Learning policy, Assessment Policy and Academic Integrity Policy.
May is also an experienced occupational therapist by profession and she previously led the Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Occupational Therapy degree at SIT. May has also been working with children with developmental delay and disorders in Singapore and Australia. May also volunteers with the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists.

Dr Tan Kim Seng
To cater to the diversity of students’ competency, Assistant Professor Tan Kim Seng dedicated his time to devise ways to make sure his content is comprehensible to even the weakest student, whilst not hampering the progression of the better ones. Weekly non-credit bearing tests were conducted to help the students meet the learning objectives, and to emphasis to the students on the importance of consistent learning and being resilient in their learning. He adapts to the learning traits of his students and have encouraged kinesthetic learning to enhance their learning experience.

Ms Yeap Lay Huay
Ms Yeap Lay Huay is passionate about inculcating in students a lifelong learning attitude and helping them to acquire deep knowledge and skills. She makes a concerted effort to upgrade her teaching skills by enrolling in online teaching courses and participating in various workshops conducted by CoLEAD. Through her active pursuit of a student-centered and inclusive teaching methodology, she has seen students changed from dislike for a subject to learning well and exceling in it. Strong teaching skills, genuine concern for students’ growth and well-being along with relevant corporate experience that she brings to her teaching endeared her to learners who testified that she makes learning a worthwhile and enlightening experience consistently.
