Applied & Collaborative Learning Environment (ACE)
A learning space suitable for student-centred learning pedagogies through its flexible seating arrangement and computers-on-wheels.
The concept behind ACE
Imagine your students working in groups, writing on touch screens, capturing and sharing their ideas instantly through the computers in the class.
Welcome to ACE, an initiative to advance student-centred learning pedagogies in SIT.
Through activities such as project work, students are required to apply their knowledge to specific situations and collaborate with peers to solve complex, higher-order thinking problems. As the instructor, you act as a facilitator of learning by providing guidance and challenging the students’ thinking where appropriate.
ACE rooms at SIT
Available in all six SIT campuses, these rooms are designed and equipped to promote group discussions and team-based learning.
Room features:
- Modular furniture such as chairs on casters
- Whiteboards
- Tables and cabinets with writable surfaces (selected rooms only)
- Computers-on-wheels (COWs): movable digital workspaces with large touchscreen monitors that students use for brainstorming, research, and presentations
- Computer management software in the instructor’s COW for you to present content, and send files or an individual group’s screen to all COWs in the room
How to book ACE rooms
To book an ACE room for activities held between week 1 to 4 of each trimester, you can submit the venue booking form to APA (Marie Gina and Sally Yong). For activities held from week 5 onwards, please use the self-service booking in Resource Booking System (RBS). Priority will be given to those who require the COWs for applied and collaborative learning in their classes.
