Applied Cryptography
This module will teach the students about the cryptographic algorithms and protocols that are fundamental in the protection of real-world systems.
Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Symmetric-key cryptography
- Asymmetric-key cryptography
- Cryptographic data integrity algorithms
- Key management
- Confidentiality, integrity, authenticity and non-repudiation
- Authentication protocols
- Authenticated key establishment protocols
- Core concepts in the evolution and architecture of security engineering systems
- Cryptographic applications in modern Digitalisation, including blockchain and cloud with confidential computing, privacy enhancements and trustworthy transactions
- History, modern and future developments of cryptography, covering a Singapore’s context, touching on lightweight cryptography, post quantum cryptography (PQC) and AI related topics
The module consists of lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, and students are assessed via quizzes, tests, and assignments, culminating in the final exam.
