Palliative and End-of-Life Care

This module will provide an in-depth understanding of the principles of palliative and end-of-life care for patients. Students will learn how to work inter professionally in order to holistically assess patients in various healthcare settings to improve their quality of life. Included will be physical, psychosocial, ethical, spiritual and cultural aspects, which will be used to develop a person-centred care plan. Cognizance will be given to the role of caregivers and their needs. The centrality of therapeutic communication skills and how these may be developed will also be addressed.
