Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Instruments (NI) to foster industry-ready graduates, exposing SIT’s Telematics students to real-world settings through an industry lab.
This collaboration will see NI will support SIT with more than $100,000 worth of training, certification and licenses to encourage SIT Telematics students to pursue their NI Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer and NI Certified LabVIEW Developer industry certifications.
SIT will now be the first university in Singapore to facilitate NI LabVIEW certification at the undergraduate level. NI LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment that enables hands-on learning and supports research applications, useful for students to learn and implement engineering developments. Graduates who are trained in LabVIEW programming are highly sought after in the engineering and high-value manufacturing industries in Singapore and globally.
NI will also support SIT’s signature Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP), where students undertake real work for 8 to 12 months and Dual Studies Lite Programme, where companies engage students from their first year of study allowing them to integrate theory and practice and develop deep specialist skills in their chosen field. Students will also benefit from ‘technology sharing’ sessions conducted by NI experts.
“As the Singapore economy continues to evolve, SIT remains committed to ensuring that our applied learning pedagogy stays relevant. With this partnership, SIT is able to structure comprehensive teaching modules covering vital telematics skills, and prepare our students for successful careers while allowing industry partners to engage with the best telematics talent. We would like to thank National Instruments for their tremendous support to enhance our students’ learning experience,” said Professor Ng Siu Choon, Associate Provost (Academic Programmes), SIT.
The MOU was signed as part of NIDays Singapore held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, where participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and trends and network with industry experts.
